Information technology (IT) is crucial to the success of today's organizations. Much of my research interest is influenced by "real world" management problems that I encountered in my 12 year career as an auditor and IT risk consultant. My research interests occupy the intersection of accounting and management information systems, and center on two topics: the organizational impacts of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP) in the post-implementation phase, and risk in information technology.
My research on ERP focuses on knowledge integration issues in post-implementation organizations, and how organizations achieve and maintain fit between ERP functionality and business needs.
My research on risk in information systems centers on the risk that the organization's information systems will not adequately support the organization in achieving its business objectives, sufficiently safeguard its information resources, or deliver accurate and complete information to its users. Ultimately, I hope to better understand how managers and organizations identify and elect to act up these IT risks as part of their overall risk management portfolio and business decision-making processes.
